Eating ginger should not have a side effect. But we know that to consume anything excess is bad.

Eating more than 4 grams of ginger might have some minor side effects such as unnecessary heartburn, gas, bloating, diarrhea, burping, and stomach discomfort. Ginger is generally safe if it is consumed with food.

  1. Ginger produces more bile. Ginger may stimulate the liver to produce additional bile, but it has no effect on gallbladder ejection fraction. Bile is a digestive fluid that your liver produces and stores in your gallbladder. If you have a history of gallbladder problems, you should see your doctor before consuming ginger or drinking ginger tea.
  2. Heartburn or stomach trouble may be a minor side effect. Excessive ginger consumption may introduce heartburn, acid reflux, burning sensation in the lower chest.
  3. Ginger can lower blood pressure. So if you already have low blood pressure please avoid ginger
  4. Ginger may slow the blood clotting. Ginger has a compound named salicylates which act as blood thinner. So ginger should not be taken if you have bleeding disorder or you are going to have surgery. Ginger may cause extra bleeding during and after the surgery. It is suggested to stop eating ginger one week early after any surgery.

Please do not consume more than 4 gram of Ginger a day.
