Constipation and IBS Treatment

We often thought of detoxifying our body as a part of weight loss. But do we ever think that  our stomach needs to be detoxified?

Constipation and IBS Treatment

There are couple of ways the constipation and IBS treatment can be done.

Orange juice castor oil Recipe

This solution detoxify the stomach and supports constipation and IBS treatment.


  • Squeezed fresh orange juice       – 1 glass
  • Food grade (medicinal) castor oil –  3 teaspoons


If you don’t have any oranges at your home you can use any kind of citrus fruit instead. For example lemon juice which is available in all the kitchens. 

You can use one tablespoon of lemon juice in a glass of pure warm water instead of one glass of orange juice. Then add three teaspoons of castor oil in lemon water.

Rest of the process will remain unchanged.

Preparation Process

Take a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. Pour three tablespoons of medicinal/food grade castor oil into the glass, stir thoroughly and drink quickly on an empty stomach early in the morning.

After drink follow up the following process :

  • Now wait for half an hour after consuming.
  • After half an hour consume one glass of warm water.
  • Next, wait for 15 minutes and consume two glasses of warm water.
  • Again wait  for more than 15 minutes and consume two glasses of warm water.
  • Relax until you feel the urge to go to the bathroom.

After the detoxification, for two days stay away from heavy, greasy and spicy foods. Avoid eating anything uncooked or raw at all costs.

It releases all toxins from your body. It may make you feel light-headed as it flushes out parasites like tapeworms from your stomach. So allow yourself to rest for a day.

You may do this only once every six months.

Castor oil promotes bowel movements in 2 to 3 hours on average. Sometimes it takes up to 6 hours for many people. 

It is suggested not to use castor oil right before bedtime because of the delayed effects of bowel movement.

Orange/Lemon juice

Side effects and Caution  

To start the constipation and IBS treatment please try with little bit castor oil first!! Castor oil may cause stomach cramping, weakness, nausea and vomiting.

Women who are pregnant and children under 6 years of age should not use castor oil  and do not adopt the above detoxification process.

It is suggested not to use castor oil as a long term treatment of constipation. It can be used as an occasional health issue.

Orange juice is healthy, but because of its high sugar content, it should be used in moderation. Diabetes patients should use lemon juice as an alternative to orange juice. 

Beside this, if you have an allergy to any of the ingredients mentioned above, you should not consume it or if you notice any abnormal reaction after consuming, it is advised to contact your doctor immediately.

Consuming fiber:

Consuming fiber can have several beneficial effects on constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Fiber plays a key role in supporting the microbiome and maintaining a healthy balance of bacteria in the digestive tract. Fiber adds bulk to the stool, making it easier to pass through the digestive system. This can help reduce constipation by stimulating bowel movements. Fiber-rich foods are those that contain a high amount of dietary fiber, which can be either soluble or insoluble.

  • Berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Bananas

  • Artichokes

Whole Grains:

  • Oats (steel-cut, rolled, and instant)

  • Whole grain cereals

Nuts and Seeds:

  • Almonds

  • Chia seeds

Other Fiber-Rich Foods:

  • Popcorn (unsalted and without butter)
  • Edamame (young soybeans)
  • Avocado


The caffeine in coffee stimulates your gut. These can increase muscle activity in the colon and pressure in the anus, which in turn can lead to the urge to have a bowel movement and urge to poop.

These work by irritating the bowel, increasing muscle contractions to help move stool along.

Please drink the recommended amount of coffee each day, not more than 4 cups of coffee. avoid drinking coffee after 5 pm in the late afternoon that can harm your sleep.

Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits: Prunes (dried plums), apples, Pears, Kiwis, Figs,Citrus fruits

Vegetables: Spinach, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, Jerusalem artichoke, chicory, artichoke, rhubarb, sweet potatoes

Stay Hydrated

Beside eating fiber rich fruits and vegetable staying hydrated is an important part of maintaining healthy digestion and ensuring that fiber works effectively in your diet. Drinking enough water and other fluids like naturally sweetened juices and clear soups can help soften stools and make them easier to pass. This can promote regular bowel movements and overall digestive health. Always remember to balance your intake of different fluids and choose beverages low in added sugars and artificial ingredients for optimal health.


Spinach Is an Excellent Source of Fiber and plays an im portant role for constipation and IBS treatment. Fiber adds bulk to the stool, helping it move through the digestive tract more easily and preventing constipation.

Probiotic rich foods

Fermented foods are a high source of probiotics. Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria that can help improve digestion and regulate bowel movements therefore support constipation and IBS treatment.
